The Caribbean side of Costa Rica is a 125 mile stretch from the border of Nicaragua to the border of Panama. It is a mix of lush rainforest and a number of different Costa Rican ecolodges. On this coastal stretch you can find Tortuguero which has been referred to the Venice of the rainforest. You will also see the Port of Limon and inland from there the famous Costa Rica whitewater rafting rivers.
When you hear the word "Caribbean" though nothing else comes to mind except for white sandy beaches. This is true for Costa Rica also. The word Carib means belonging to American Indian populace and with a mix of Bri-Bri ancient Indian culture and an Afro-Costa Rican culture it makes for the perfect blend of culture and natural beauty. The Caribbean side is like no other part of Costa Rica. Where the Pacific is more mountainous, most of the Caribbean side is just rolling hills but in the Southern zone the Talamanca mountain range makes is way towards the coast.
